Yes! You can soak Hemp Seeds for 3-4 hrs before grinding into a dosa batter. However Hemp Seed Oil is sensitive to deep frying temperatures as it can damage and reduce the amount of Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids in the oil. We recommend drizzling the Oil on dishes like dosas, dals, sabzis, khichdi, vegetable stir-fries, pasta, pizzas, salads, and incorporate them into dips and sauces rather than a cooking or frying oil. Although our Hemp Hearts are safe to bake at 300 F / 150C or higher because the omegas are protected within the structure of the hemp heart. Hemp Hearts are also great for making dosas, khichdi, pongal, chutneys, topping on smoothies, salads, and oatmeal and hemp mylk too. Check out our Hemp Hub for more inspirational recipes!
We have been sourcing our quality hemp seeds from our Indian farmers across and we will continue to partner with them for our highest quality grade of hemp food products.
Quantity is one of the pillars of nutrition for optimal health. (The other pillars being Quality, Nutrient Balance and Frequency). For optimal energy and to avoid weight gain as well as overwhelming the digestive system, it’s best to consume 2-3 table spoons at each eating occasion. Eating hemp foods at every single eating occasion in a day is A-Okay, just account for them as our protein and healthy fat sources.
NO! Omega 6s are often misunderstood as bad fat but in reality, Omega 6s like GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid), play a crucial role in our overall health. They lower harmful LDL cholesterol and boost protective HDL. A general rule of thumb is to avoid all highly processed fats.
Hemp and marijuana are much like a sweet pepper and a hot pepper, or a Mint and a Basil or a Chihuahua and a Great Dane. Hemp and marijuana are both part of the cannabis plant family but are VERY DIFFERENT. Indus Hemp products contain less than 0.001% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and will NOT cause any psychoactive effect.
Generally speaking, Hemp Superfoods offer more protein and a broader spectrum of omegas 3, 6 & 9 than flax, chia, sunflower or peas.

Indus Hemp is in the process of manufacturing Hemp foods for animals, we have received great feedback from our customers about the observed benefits of adding hemp seed oil to their pet's diet.
Just like with humans, be conscious of our pet's weight when determining how much hemp seed oil to add to our pet’s food. A good parameter for the oil – 1 teaspoon per 5 Kgs of body weight.

Absolutely! Just remember to consider body weight when determining serving size – much like you would with any other food. As a general guideline cut the recommended serving size shown on each package by 1/3 or 1/2 depending on the child’s age and size.
Yes! Hemp contains numerous nutrients including folic acid, so it is a safe and delicious addition to expectant mothers diets.

It’s Omega-6 essential fat Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA) is only found in quantities of significance in Hemp Foods. We cold-press our hemp seeds to extract the oils (if we didn't remove the oils from the hemp seeds, they would turn into hemp butter when milled) although some of the healthful hemp seed oil does remain behind and end up in the hemp flour. After pressing the oil from the hemp seeds, what's left is known as a 'hemp cake.' This hemp cake is gently milled / pulverized and turned into our heavenly, nutrient-dense hemp flour which can be used for making scrumptious Dosas and also variety of baking goodies.
Hemp Flour has an earthy nutty flavour and we recommend you to use about 25% Hemp Flour in any recipe requiring all-purpose plain flour for baking and general cooking requirements. Combine with other baking flours of choice in bread, muffins and biscuits. Great for pizza dough, waffles and pancakes. Add a few tablespoons of Hemp Flour to soups and hotpots to add that extra body or for thickening sauce. A 3:1 ratio of regular flour to Hemp Flour will create a dense and hearty loaf while just Hemp Flour does not rise and would result in mostly a normal roll but essentially turns our baked good into a super healing food. Please note this is a just our mere guideline and we recommend experimenting with various ratios of Hemp Flour to regular flour in home cooked creations.
NO! They are completely different products. Hemp Flour is made from the raw hemp seeds with only approx. 30% oil. Hemp flour will contain over 60% soluble fibre, and lower amounts of protein - making it great as a baking substitute. It's also known as hemp bran or hemp fibre flour. Hemp Protein Powder on the other hand, will be finer and more suited for adding to post-workout protein shakes/smoothies, or simply taking straight for an anytime protein-boost that’s high on nutrition!
Yes ofcourse! Hemp Seeds and Hemp Flour can be used in a variety of baked goods. As Hemp Seeds are gluten free it is missing the structural protein that stabilizes baked goods. Therefore, we recommend to replace only part of the flour in a recipe with Hemp i.e. ¼ cup in muffin or loaf recipe or 10 % of the flour in a bread recipe or make a healthy protein dosa with channa dal and urad dal – yes you read it right! we can make scrumptious crispy Hemp dosas and fluffy pooris and rotis too. Check out our recipes blog for making Hemposas and other inspirational recipes using Hemp Flour. Why grind hemp seeds when we did the milling for you with our milled Hemp Flour product for applications that need a floury product.
Heating Hemp seed oil to high temperatures can damage and reduce amount of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids in the oil. Hemp seed oil should be used as a finishing oil, rather than a cooking or frying oil, since the delicate omega fatty acids will break down during the cooking process, stripping the oil of its nutritional benefits.

Hemp seeds nutritional profile can vary slightly from field-to-field based on growing conditions and seed variety. We also educate our farmer partners on ways to improve seed quality. When Indus Hemp publishes nutritional information on the seed, we take a range or an average of various tests to account for slight variations in seed lots. The average potassium content in Indus Hemp seed (which is used for making Hemp Hearts and Hemp Protein Powder) is 288 mg per 30g serving. The average phosphorous content in Indus Hemp Hearts is 426 mg per 30g serving.

No! Hemp will NOT get you high. It’s like comparing mint and basil – they’re both herbs, but they’re used in very different ways for very different results. Indus Hemp superfoods contain less than 0.001% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and will NOT cause any psychoactive effect.

Indus Hemp Seeds are the seed of the Cannabis Sativa plant. They have a hard, nut-like exterior and soft chewy inside. Think of a hard-shelled sunflower seed. You can add them to smoothies, shakes, juices and more! Indus Hemp Hearts are hulled hemp seeds. They are soft, chewy inside the shell of the hemp seed. You can add them to khichdi, sabzis, chutneys, salads, cereal, make hemp mylk, desserts and much more!

Indus Hemp superfoods are a natural, Non-GMO product. There will be slight variations in colour depending on what hemp seed variety was grown, the soil, the region, and growing season. The colour difference between product lots has nothing to do with quality – we run small batch testing and every single product of ours goes through a test from our facility to shelf.

Indus Hemp Toasted Hemp Seeds are complete seeds. We do not hull or shell our hemp seeds but leave them intact as nature has provided them. By keeping the seeds as natural as grown in nature we leave the important fibre component of the hemp seeds intact thereby providing a complete nutrition from the complete seeds. In contrary hemp hearts don’t have the shell and therefore most of the fibre part removed keeping just the nut and oily part of the seed which has complete high protein.

Fibre is an essential part in our diets as fibre plays an important role for our health and well-being. As per the basic nutrition guidelines, they have increased the need for fibre from 20g/day to 30g emphasizing the importance of fibre intake.

Indus Hemp Hearts provide 10g complete protein per 30g serving or 4 table spoons.
